For too long – cinematographers, directors of photography, & auteurs have believed the false philosophy that the power of the image is the part of the cinema language that connects, emotionally moves, & inspires audiences – but its sound that fights more than half the battle in driving home the emotional gravity & velocity of a film’s power. This entire month is an ode to those trailblazers since cinema’s inception that explored the farthest reaches of soundscapes & noise, weaving into resistance & underground cinema forevermore.
